Forensic Photonics turns dozens of prototypes into a ready-to-sell LIFT device with Stratasys

Forensic Photonics, a forensics imaging startup, faced the challenge of creating a durable housing for its LIFT fingerprint detection device. Traditional manufacturing methods were cost-prohibitive for the complex geometry, so founder Geoff Lambright initially used a hobbyist 3D printer for prototyping. However, the resulting parts lacked the durability required for field use by law enforcement.

Stratasys, through its reseller GoEngineer, provided a solution using an Origin One printer with Somos WeatherX 100 material. This combination enabled the production of end-use parts that could withstand harsh conditions. As a result, Forensic Photonics rapidly perfected its product and brought a fully functional device to market, drastically reducing development time and stunning industry competitors.
