A Stratasys Case Study
FATHOM, an advanced manufacturing facility based in Oakland, CA, sought to push the limits of additive manufacturing to meet growing customer demand for high-volume, cost-effective, and customized end-use parts. To address this challenge and scale their AM business, they partnered with vendor Stratasys and adopted the Stratasys Continuous Build 3D Demonstrator, a modular and automated FDM 3D manufacturing system.
The Stratasys solution enabled FATHOM to produce parts in much greater quantities with shorter lead times and at a lower cost. A key measurable result was a project for Intel, where FATHOM produced over 9,700 3D printed parts for $116,000 in just five weeks, a significant saving compared to the estimated $400,000 and months required for traditional molding. The system provided the scalability and flexibility to handle just-in-time orders, positioning FATHOM to disrupt the traditional manufacturing supply chain.
