A Stratasys Case Study
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a leading hub for aviation research, faced a challenge in fabricating large, high-precision wind tunnel models for aerodynamic testing of a novel wing design using traditional machining methods. To accelerate their research, the university partnered with vendor Stratasys to utilize Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing technology.
The solution implemented by Stratasys enabled the team to produce three wing prototypes, each over two feet in dimension, in under a week. This significant reduction in lead time compared to conventional techniques accelerated the experimental schedule and demonstrated the potential of SLA for rapid, precise aeronautical prototyping.
