DQBD and GEMTEC’s Somnosync Sleep Mask Featuring H350™ 3D Printed Parts

DQBD GmbH, an innovation‑driven design and development firm in Germany, partnered with GEMTEC to create Somnosync, a contactless sleep mask that detects REM phases without the cables and adhesives of traditional polysomnography. The primary challenge was producing a comfortable, low‑volume, ergonomically optimized housing that integrates sensors, battery and PCB snap‑fit receptacles while preserving accuracy and user comfort — a task DQBD solved using the Stratasys H350 3D printer powered by SAF™ technology.

Using Stratasys H350 printing with High Yield PA11 and GrabCAD Print Pro, DQBD produced precise, repeatable, impact‑resistant snap‑fit parts and optimized nesting to reduce per‑part cost versus injection molding. The Stratasys-enabled manufacturing approach delivered a slim, interchangeable, and comfortable Somnosync housing that preserved sensor performance, helped DQBD win the FOCUS OPEN 2023 Silver Award, and set the product up for larger clinical validation to demonstrate its diagnostic and therapeutic impact.
