Design Firm 3D Prints to Refine Ideas with Speed

Center for Advanced Design (CAD), a Minnesota product development firm that creates complex surface geometry for the plastics and power sports industries, needed faster turnaround to validate concepts, build production tooling and meet tight customer deadlines. To accelerate prototyping and improve workflow they turned to Stratasys, deploying the Stratasys F370 3D Printer alongside GrabCAD Print software.

Using the Stratasys F370 and GrabCAD Print, CAD cut iteration time and reduced setup headaches—printing faster, running ASA for higher‑resolution “5‑slice” parts, and making overnight design changes. Stratasys enabled CAD to 3D print large fixtures they previously couldn’t (allowing them to print 70–90% of fixtures without dovetailing), test multiple helmet concepts (two concepts before committing to tooling; three iterations for a camera mount) and achieve clear time and cost savings.
