Case Study: Syqe Medical achieves rapid development of a precise, 3D‑printed drug‑delivery inhaler and clinical-trial success with Stratasys

A Stratasys Case Study

Creating an Advanced Drug Delivery System at Breathtaking Speed

Syqe Medical, a med‑tech startup developing a quantified metered‑dose inhaler to deliver precise cannabis doses for patients with severe neuropathic pain, faced extreme time pressure and the technical challenge of creating a patient‑agnostic airflow and dosing system. To meet tight investor and clinical‑trial timelines, Syqe turned to Stratasys 3D printing (using an Objet 350™ platform and Stratasys MED610™ biocompatible material) to rapidly prototype and validate their design.

Using Stratasys printers, Syqe printed roughly 80% of the inhaler, produced a working investor prototype in weeks, and iterated 10 different airflow mechanisms within a month—achieving in one week what would have taken four weeks with conventional manufacturing. The Stratasys‑enabled design (including MED610 parts for body contact) led to successful clinical trials, secured funding, and a product ready for commercial production.
