Continental strengthens production capabilities with specialized FDM additive manufacturing materials

Continental Engineering Services (CES), the Product Solutions arm of Continental AG, needed faster, production‑grade solutions for manufacturing components, prototypes and small series parts—especially ESD‑compliant fixtures and quick replacement tools to avoid costly machine downtime. To meet these challenges CES selected Stratasys equipment and materials, notably the Fortus 450mc FDM 3D printer and high‑performance resins such as ULTEM™ 9085 and ABS‑ESD7.

Stratasys’ Fortus 450mc and its specialized materials were integrated into CES’s ADaM Competence Center to produce durable jigs, fixtures and replacement parts that meet electrostatic discharge standards and withstand factory use. The result: parts printed in just a few hours (often run overnight for next‑day delivery), faster turnaround and more production agility, reduced machine downtime and cost‑effective in‑house manufacturing—outcomes CES attributes directly to Stratasys’ technology.
