Centre for Biomedical and Technology Integration - Customer Case Study

The Centre for Biomedical and Technology Integration (CBMTI), a University of Malaya spinoff in Malaysia, needed better training tools for complex neurosurgical and ENT procedures because traditional methods—live cases, cadavers and single‑material 3D prints—couldn’t replicate real tissue behavior or pathology without costly post‑processing. To address this, CBMTI adopted Stratasys PolyJet multi‑material 3D printing, including the Stratasys J750 and Connex platforms, to produce patient‑specific, anatomically accurate models and sophisticated training simulators.

Using Stratasys multi‑material printers, CBMTI now fabricates realistic, color‑and‑texture‑accurate models (even with simulated fluid dynamics and tumor pathology) for repeatable surgical rehearsal. The Stratasys solution made surgeons measurably better prepared, boosted CBMTI’s production capacity by about 40%, and dramatically increased researcher interest—reported as a hundredfold rise—enabling the center to scale custom implants, prototypes and simulator programs.
