A Stratasys Case Study
Italdesign Giugiaro Barcelona needed an interior for its Climb‑E modular mobility concept that could function as a car, home and office, demanding reimagined materials and finishes (like Alcantara) to suit multiple scenarios. To meet that challenge, Italdesign Giugiaro Barcelona partnered with Stratasys and applied Stratasys’ 3DFashion 3D‑printing technology, including the J850 TechStyle, to explore new color, texture and material combinations directly on textiles.
Stratasys’ solution—full‑color, multi‑material 3D printing directly onto fabric and Alcantara—gave Italdesign Giugiaro Barcelona precise control over transparencies, chromatic effects and tactile finishes (with capabilities such as 600,000+ color variations and multiple shore values). The approach enabled rapid, lower‑cost prototyping, realized the multi‑functional interior shown on the Climb‑E, and opened clear pathways for high‑value customization, novel lighting effects and future integration with sensors and embedded electronics.
