A Stratasys Case Study
Askja Audio, an ultra-high-end audio company founded by Didier Kwak, faced a significant challenge in manufacturing its uniquely designed hybrid amplifier. The amplifier's complex, unusually curved shape was nearly impossible to produce using traditional wood and metal methods without compromising the vibratory continuity essential for perfect sound quality. To overcome these traditional manufacturing limitations, they turned to vendor Stratasys for a solution.
Stratasys implemented its Fortus 900mc 3D printer using ULTEM 9085 resin and ASA materials. This additive manufacturing solution provided the design freedom to produce the large, complex parts without geometric limitations, consolidating multiple assemblies into just a few parts. The result was a cost-effective process that delivered parts within days instead of months, enabling Askja Audio to achieve superior sound quality without mechanical distortion and even offer surface customization to its clients.
