A Stratasys Case Study
Askja Audio, founded by Didier Kwak to create ultra–high-end audio systems, faced a manufacturing barrier: the Origin hybrid amplifier required unusually large, highly curved shapes and seamless assemblies where even small imperfections would degrade vibratory continuity and sound quality. Traditional tooling would have been slow and expensive, so Askja turned to Stratasys and additive manufacturing—using the Stratasys Fortus 900mc 3D printer with ULTEM 9085 resin and ASA via FDM—to achieve the necessary design freedom and material performance.
Stratasys enabled Askja to consolidate many small parts into a few large, dimensionally stable components, produce complex geometry on demand, and shorten lead times from months to days. The result was a finished Origin amplifier that met Askja Audio’s exacting acoustic and aesthetic standards, supported customer surface customizations, reduced tooling cost and time, and preserved vibratory continuity for superior sound—outcomes made possible by Stratasys’ large-format 3D printing solution.
