Case Study: Promolding achieves 93% faster injection-mold lead times — from six weeks to three days — with Stratasys

A Stratasys Case Study

Preview of the Promolding Case Study

3D printing breaks the mold for medical device production

Promolding, a Dutch specialist in design, engineering and manufacturing of high‑tech plastic parts, faced growing customer demand for more complex products and much faster turnaround. To accelerate prototyping and explore printed injection molding, Promolding adopted a Stratasys Connex3 3D Printer from Stratasys to bring high‑resolution, in‑house 3D printing into its development workflow.

Using Stratasys technology, Promolding produced high‑quality prototypes (including Tigerfix glue cartridges) and began 3D‑printing injection molds, cutting mold development from six weeks to three days—a 93% lead‑time reduction—and saving about two days per product by keeping the Connex3 in‑house. The team also produced over 50 samples for Fugro from a single printed mold and launched Printed Injection Molding (PRIM) as a new customer service, delivering faster design cycles and greater production flexibility.
