Omega Reduces Tooling Inventory with F3300 Modular Paint Fixtures

Omega Tool Corp, a global leader in large, complex injection molds founded in 1981, needed a modular paint fixture that could hold a 30 lb part and withstand the high temperatures and chemicals of a paint line while reducing tooling inventory and weight. To avoid costly, heavy machined-metal fixtures, Omega partnered with Stratasys and leveraged the F3300 production FDM system and ULTEM™ 9085 resin for a 3D‑printed alternative.

Stratasys delivered 3D‑printed ULTEM™ 9085 components produced on the F3300, replacing selected metal parts to create a reconfigurable, lightweight fixture that supported a 30 lb part through the full paint cycle with no deformation (HDT 353 °F / 178 °C @66 psi). The solution cut fixture weight and inventory, enabled faster, repeatable adjustments, and benefited from the F3300’s up to 3× faster print speeds and user-friendly operation—improving paint-line efficiency for Omega Tool Corp.
