Case Study: a national grocery retailer modernizes 200 apps and retires legacy identity services with Strata Identity

A Strata Identity Case Study

Preview of the National Grocery Retailer Case Study

Modernizing at identity quickly, at scale

National Grocery Retailer, a Fortune 500 grocery retailer with 500,000 employees, needed to modernize 200 mission-critical applications and retire an aging legacy identity provider before a renewal deadline. Its cloud security team faced a lengthy, costly migration from an on-premises SSO IDP to Microsoft Azure Active Directory, and many older in-house and non-standard apps had been hard-coded to the legacy system. Strata Identity was brought in to help solve the problem without refactoring applications.

Strata Identity deployed the Maverics Identity Orchestration Platform to build a custom identity fabric and migrate apps incrementally at scale. The retailer moved 200+ applications without rewriting code or disrupting user experience, completed work that could have taken months per app in hours, and saved millions in custom coding, manual testing, and validation. Strata Identity also helped the company scale the solution horizontally, integrate it into CI/CD, and shut down its legacy identity stack, reducing tech debt and improving security posture.
