Kroger, one of the world’s largest food retailers, faced an urgent identity modernization challenge: migrate 400+ applications (handling millions of authentication events daily) off an end-of-life SiteMinder SSO to Microsoft Azure AD without years of rewrites or disrupting users. Kroger engaged Strata Identity to provide a flexible, cloud-ready identity orchestration solution and a partner capable of tailoring the migration to their scale and timelines.

Strata Identity implemented a lift-and-shift “migration factory” and identity orchestration platform that moved apps in hours instead of months, allowed parallel non-production and production instances for rapid testing and cutover, and enabled Kroger to fully retire SiteMinder. The project completed in months, saved Kroger millions in custom coding and infrastructure costs (and avoided potentially hundreds of thousands of redevelopment hours), caused zero end-user disruption, and accelerated Kroger’s adoption of Azure AD while freeing IT to focus on business initiatives.
