University of Vermont - Customer Case Study

The University of Vermont faced a fragmented budgeting system that, by 2013, did not meet the needs of a diverse campus community and lacked transparent, consistent financial reporting. Seeking to support more than 200 users and increase accountability—especially after moving to a responsibility-centered management (RCM) model in 2015—UVM engaged Strata Decision Technology to provide an integrated financial management platform for financial reporting, multiyear budgeting, and multiyear salary planning.

Strata Decision Technology automated UVM’s integrated planning and reporting processes (implemented in 2016), improving the usability of single-year and multiyear budgeting and salary planning and aligning financial data with RCM incentives. As a result, managers and finance staff across the university can quantify problems, evaluate options, and make informed decisions; the platform embedded accountability institutionwide, supported more than 200 users, and helped steward UVM’s FY18 $669 million budget more transparently.
