Coryell Health, a small rural health system, needed to decide whether a $2.5 million capital investment in a da Vinci Surgical System to offer bariatric surgery would deliver sufficient ROI and draw enough patients to justify the cost. To answer questions about expected return, patient draw, competing providers, and patient outmigration, Coryell partnered with Strata Decision Technology and used its Launch Pathway, Storyboards, and Insights tools.
Strata Decision Technology helped Coryell model scenarios, pull local and regional bariatric volumes, visualize outmigration, track inpatient/outpatient sub-product volumes and market share over time, and build data-driven Storyboards for the board. The analysis convinced the board to approve the $2.5M purchase of the da Vinci System; Coryell now uses Strata Decision Technology to measure ROI, guide strategic marketing, and monitor quarterly outmigration reductions.
