Confederation College Achieves Accuracy and Efficiency in Budgeting, Tuition Planning, and Program Costing with Axiom

Confederation College, a provincially funded applied arts and technology college in Thunder Bay serving about 7,153 students, faced time-consuming, error-prone budgeting, tuition planning, and program costing processes. After an RFP the College selected Strata Decision Technology to implement the Axiom Higher Education Suite to provide integrated budgeting, tuition and program-costing functionality along with self-service tools and analytics for budget managers.

Strata Decision Technology implemented Axiom modules (budgeting/forecasting, tuition planning, labor and grants planning, capital planning) and integrated them with the college’s ERP, introducing workflow, reporting, and visualization capabilities. The results: more than 20 budget managers onboarded to self-service budgeting, budget variance improved from 20% to less than 3%, tuition planning accuracy is within a couple of percentage points, program costing time was cut from over a month to a few hours, and enrollment-planning time dropped from a month-plus to a few days.
