Google and WallDecaux deliver real-time outdoor ads with 55 million impressions through Strapi

WallDecaux, a premium outdoor advertiser operating in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and 22 other German cities, faced a unique challenge when partnering with Google Germany: update and publish DOOH ad assets every 2–4 hours across hundreds of screens. To meet strict security and self-hosting requirements while giving Google direct control, WallDecaux selected the open-source, JavaScript-based CMS Strapi to provide a flexible, user-friendly configuration interface.

Using Strapi, WallDecaux built a real-time ad-management tool in two days that let users choose background images, edit text, adjust layout and logo size, preview assets, and publish with role-based access control on their own infrastructure. The Strapi-powered solution enabled sub-60-second updates across 960 screens, powered a five-week campaign with 55 million impressions, and helped the project win a Silver prize at the German Digital Awards.
