Roche Palo Alto discovers a new way to communicate with employees

Roche, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, sought a new way to improve internal communications at its Palo Alto facility. The challenge was to enhance the speed and fluidity of messaging beyond their existing intranet and email, while also eliminating the clutter of paper flyers used for employee announcements. Ron Fuchs, VP of communications, discovered the digital signage service from vendor StrandVision during an internet search for a robust yet budget-friendly solution.

StrandVision provided a hosted digital signage service that was implemented on two plasma screens in Roche's high-traffic cafeteria. The solution was noted for its ease of use and responsive support, which included adding new features at the client's request. The results were highly positive: the new channel efficiently delivered company announcements, employees embraced it for sharing news and photos, and it successfully replaced the unsightly paper notices. This initiative boosted morale, built a greater sense of community, and became a valued communication tool for the site's 1,000 employees.
