Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) is a two-year public residential high school that serves students statewide. Campus IT lead Dillard—who handled backups, help desk, network administration and more—was frustrated by a cumbersome, tape-based backup process that ate up time and risked slow or lost restores.

OSSM deployed a STORServer Backup Appliance (a simplified, appliance-based implementation of IBM TSM) through reseller Dataedge, giving them an easy-to-manage, scalable solution. The appliance cut daily hands-on backup time from about an hour to roughly 10 minutes, allowed Dillard to operate it for years with minimal training, and enabled fast restores (including a critical recovery for the registrar), eliminating the tape-management burden.
