A top-100 U.S. metropolitan city serving 250–500k residents partnered with STORServer to address rapidly growing backup demands: vendor-uploaded images and a move to virtualized servers had inflated storage needs, required more raw capacity, faster backups, simpler management, and reliable disaster recovery across primary and secondary sites.

STORServer delivered built-to-order backup appliances powered by IBM Spectrum Protect (primary A740 with IBM V3700 and a secondary appliance plus IBM TS3100 tape library with LTO7), along with STORServer Console and virtual machine backup software. The solution used deduplication, progressive incremental backups, instant VM restores, and single-point U.S.-based support—resulting in a smaller storage footprint and licensing costs, faster restores (10 TB restored seamlessly), and halving daily processing time from six hours to three.
