The State of Ohio’s Management Council of the Ohio Education Computer Network (MCOECN), which supports 23 IT centers serving 725 school districts and 1.3 million students, faced a complex storage and disaster-recovery challenge: hundreds of sites with different capacities and operating systems made centralized backup, archiving and reliable recovery difficult to manage across the state’s education system.

MCOECN standardized on a STORServer Enterprise Backup Appliance (EBA) for platform-neutral, policy-based disk-to-disk and disk-to-tape backup with hierarchical tiering to off-site DR. The solution handles Windows and Linux environments, performs nightly backups for 600 school servers, and replicates data to two DR appliances—delivering statewide disaster-recovery assurance and streamlined management.
