Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm advances the 2024 Installation Campaign with StormGeo’s support

Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm (Yunlin OWF) faced the challenge of advancing a major offshore wind installation campaign in Taiwan’s difficult Asia-Pacific weather conditions, where monsoons, rough seas, and typhoon risks can disrupt work and threaten safety. To support the project, StormGeo provided MetOcean weather forecasting services, including insights on wind, waves, lightning, and tropical cyclones.

StormGeo delivered a web portal with real-time and forecast weather intelligence to help the Yunlin OWF team plan installation windows, make timely operational decisions, and protect staff and assets. As a result, the project advanced significantly in 2023, including the installation of 34 wind turbine generators, 45 monopile foundations, 26 inner array grids, and 12 export cables, helping move the 640 MW wind farm toward commercial operation.
