Sunship Schiffahrtskontor KG (Reederei M. Lauterjung GmbH), which manages a 30-ship fleet with 38 shore staff and some 450 officers and crew, needed a more user-friendly, fleet-wide software solution to provide daily weather data, detailed vessel tracks and routine route optimization. The company’s previous weather package didn’t allow office-based observation of individual tracks or the daily optimization the operations team required, so Sunship selected StormGeo’s Fleet Decision Support System (FDSS) and Bon Voyage System (BVS).

StormGeo implemented FDSS and BVS with basic access for both onboard and onshore users, including alarm functionality and enhanced visualization. As a result Sunship can monitor any vessel from each PC, optimize tracks from the office and give masters real-time routing advice, and display the entire fleet against weather data on large screens—improving operational safety, keeping decision-makers aligned, and consistently optimizing efficiency across its 30-ship fleet.
