StormGeo Helps Shipping Meet Stricter Decarbonization Rules

The International Maritime Organization set ambitious goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. In line with these stricter decarbonization rules, shipping companies needed tools to monitor and improve their sustainability and operational efficiency. StormGeo provided its s-Insight fleet performance management system to help shipping companies meet this challenge.

StormGeo's solution utilized an energy management approach to measure hull and propeller performance. By monitoring a hull performance index that accounts for external conditions, the system provided clear data on vessel degradation. This allowed one customer to identify the optimal time for hull cleaning, resulting in a significant fuel saving of 42.6 metric tons on a single voyage and providing strong evidence to resolve a dispute with a charterer. StormGeo's tools directly supported decarbonization efforts by enabling substantial fuel savings and emissions reductions.
