Skanska to Improve Safety of Construction Projects Across Norway with StormGeo Support

Skanska Norway, the local arm of the global construction group Skanska, faced several serious near‑misses and found consumer weather apps unreliable for site safety. In 2018 they partnered with StormGeo to develop a tailored weather portal built on StormGeo Vortex that fits Skanska’s construction processes and HSE requirements.

StormGeo’s solution delivers 2–7 day forecasts for wind, gusts, precipitation and temperature, custom SMS alerts to unlimited recipients integrated into production planning, and a dashboard that identifies safe time windows for casting, painting, crane operations and drone flying. Skanska expects the StormGeo portal to improve forecast reliability, enable preventive measures, reduce near‑misses and be rolled out across projects in Norway.
