Protecting the Dolphins at the Texas State Aquarium

The Texas State Aquarium, located on the Coastal Bend of Corpus Christi, faced a major emergency challenge when Category Four Hurricane Harvey threatened its low-lying coastal facility, animals, guests and staff. Aquarium emergency staff turned to StormGeo and its 24/7 Forecast Operations Center and meteorologists for real‑time tracking and expert guidance as the storm approached.

StormGeo provided continuous monitoring, updates and direct meteorologist support that enabled the aquarium to shelter its four bottlenose dolphins in a secure, conditioned space on site rather than risk costly and stressful off‑site transport. Thanks to StormGeo’s guidance, the dolphins and visitors were kept safe, the on‑site sheltering approach avoided extra expense and trauma, and the successful response has since been adopted as the aquarium’s primary plan for future hazards.
