Petroleum Geo-Services - Customer Case Study

Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), a global provider of seismic data, images and 3D models for energy companies, faced the challenge of balancing crew safety with the need to maximize fleet uptime in unpredictable offshore conditions. To reduce weather-related risk and downtime, PGS engaged StormGeo for tailored weather services — including global-to-local atmospheric and wave modeling and a forecaster-on-duty service targeted to PGS’ specific areas of operation.

StormGeo implemented finely tuned forecasting models and a close partnership with PGS operators, using field observations and feedback (notably on the Barents Sea Ramform Vanguard project) to improve timing and magnitude accuracy. As a result, PGS gained greater confidence in forecasts, was able to continue production in marginal weather, narrowed weather uncertainty, and increased operational uptime — benefits reinforced by StormGeo’s customized service and regular review meetings.
