Lede, one of Norway's largest distribution system operators, faced a significant challenge in managing vegetation along its 18,115 km power network. Their traditional calendar-based program was reactive, costly, and inefficient, leaving them vulnerable to outages and financial penalties from storms and fast-growing forests. To address this, Lede partnered with the vendor StormGeo to pilot its GridEyes solution.

StormGeo implemented its GridEyes satellite monitoring and analytics platform to shift Lede's vegetation management from a calendar-based to a condition- and risk-based model. The solution provided high-frequency visibility, enabling Lede to prioritize high-risk corridors and validate clearing outcomes. This partnership resulted in a more targeted and efficient operation, projecting annual savings of over 5.5 MNOK for the customer.
