Security Center of Iceland future-proofs network and boosts performance with StorMagic virtual SAN

Security Center of Iceland, a provider of on-site security, remote surveillance and CCTV services, needed to future-proof its mission‑critical 24x7 monitoring center by relocating it onsite and adding virtualization with triple redundancy for both the primary and remote sites. IT Manager Ásgeir Rúnar Viðarsson evaluated virtual SAN options and selected StorMagic and its SvSAN software to deliver a simple, cost‑effective solution that would meet availability, performance and scalability requirements.

StorMagic deployed SvSAN on two Dell hosts at the primary site with replication to an off‑site server via Veeam over a 10Gbit backbone, allowing the Center to remove two full server racks and avoid extra storage hardware. The deployment delivered measurable gains — 40–70% faster performance on complex Dynamics NAV processes and large SQL reports — plus 50% more memory, 25% more cores and 40% more CPU resources at a lower cost than competing VxRail/VMware options, while providing the high availability and support needed for 24x7 operations.
