Case Study: NISC reduces costs and simplifies remote site operations with StorMagic SvSAN

A StorMagic Case Study

NISC cuts Oracle licensing costs by 50% with StorMagic SvSAN

National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC), an IT solutions provider for utility and broadband cooperatives, faced challenges with its expensive and difficult-to-deploy Dell EMC PowerEdge VRTX systems at eight member sites. These systems were approaching end-of-life and presented single points of failure. NISC turned to vendor StorMagic for a new solution.

StorMagic implemented its SvSAN hyperconverged solution on Dell servers, creating simple VMware infrastructures at all eight sites. The solution provided high availability and a drastically reduced physical footprint. Most significantly, StorMagic's SvSAN implementation allowed for a 50% reduction in Oracle licensing costs, resulting in initial savings of $22,610 and annual savings of $3,610 per site.
