Mt. Hood Meadows Migrates to StorMagic SvSAN from HPE StoreVirtual for Point-of-Sale Data Management

Mt. Hood Meadows, a ski resort in Oregon, faced an aging physical SAN that hosted critical production workloads including point-of-sale systems. After HPE StoreVirtual VSA reached end of support, the resort sought a more flexible, cost-effective virtualized storage solution and evaluated alternatives before choosing StorMagic SvSAN.

StorMagic implemented SvSAN (SvSAN 12TB Platinum with Predictive Storage Caching) to replace StoreVirtual, enabling high availability with just two HPE DL380 servers instead of three—a 33% hardware reduction—while adding SSD caching and multi-path I/O to boost performance. The solution, combined with a move to 10Gb iSCSI networking and Veeam-based offsite backups (3-2-1), improved application performance, lowered costs, and delivered the responsive support Mt. Hood Meadows needed.
