Mills & Reeve, a UK law firm with six offices and 930 staff, needed a cost-effective way to eliminate downtime and protect roughly 400 GB of local data at each branch. Their existing two-server VMware ESXi setups offered little resilience, and rolling out local scanning software required on-site storage — so they evaluated solutions and selected StorMagic’s SvSAN to meet these constraints.

StorMagic deployed SvSAN on two HP DL360 Gen9 servers per branch in a hyperconverged VMware vSphere configuration to provide highly available shared storage for 4–10 VMs (including Nuance Copitrak). The SvSAN implementation was quick to deploy, reduced the need for emergency IT responses by enabling planned maintenance, and has “virtually eliminated downtime” from hardware failures across all six offices while remaining cost-effective and easy to manage.
