Case Study: ITsjefen AS achieves ten-fold performance gains and five 9s redundancy with StorMagic SvSAN

A StorMagic Case Study

Preview of the ITsjefen AS Case Study

Hosting and managed service provider builds solution with StorMagic SvSAN offering a ten-fold improvement in performance at half the cost

ITsjefen AS, a Norway-based hosting and managed services provider, needed a simple, flexible and cost-effective way to improve system performance and deliver high availability for varied customer workloads. After evaluating options, Solutions Architect Anders Kringstad selected StorMagic’s SvSAN to address those requirements and validated the solution in lab tests, including simulated server failures.

StorMagic deployed SvSAN on dedicated pairs of Dell servers virtualized with VMware vSphere and stretched across two locations, turning internal disks into highly available shared storage for ~20 VMs per server and backing up to Veeam. The StorMagic solution delivered a ten-fold performance boost (from ~50MB/s to 500–800MB/s), outstanding two‑node redundancy with “five 9s” availability, zero downtime in production and tests, a 100% performance SLA, and at roughly half the cost of previous options.
