Case Study: Hermann Bantleon GmbH achieves simplified maintenance and high availability with StorMagic SvSAN

A StorMagic Case Study

Preview of the Hermann Bantleon GmbH Case Study

Hermann Bantleon GmbH simplifies maintenance and ensures high availability with StorMagic and ThomasKrenn

Hermann Bantleon GmbH, a German manufacturer of high‑performance lubricants, needed to virtualize its Navision ERP to improve data availability and avoid costly downtime for maintenance. The company sought a budget‑friendly, Microsoft‑compatible, and easy‑to‑administer redundant storage solution instead of an expensive mirrored SAN. After evaluating options, they selected StorMagic SvSAN delivered as a packaged solution by Thomas‑Krenn to meet these requirements.

Thomas‑Krenn deployed two‑node hyperconverged clusters using StorMagic SvSAN on 2U servers (8×960GB SSDs plus NVMe for Navision, dual 10Gb NICs, dual 14‑core Xeons, 256GB RAM), enabling a virtual SAN that runs the ERP, SQL, CRM and other VMs. StorMagic’s SvSAN eliminated planned maintenance windows and allowed updates without shutting down services; the initial cluster ran reliably for over two years with no node failures, Bantleon quickly purchased additional StorMagic clusters, and the environment now supports dozens of VMs (60 on the second cluster) while allowing in‑house scaling and administration.
