Case Study: St. Josefshaus achieves 88% performance improvement and high availability with StorMagic SvSAN

German healthcare facility depends on StorMagic SvSAN for uninterrupted patient care

St. Josefshaus, a hospital and nursing home in Hausen, Germany, needed a budget-friendly, highly available refresh of its servers and storage to avoid outages that could disrupt patient care. After evaluating alternatives, the facility selected StorMagic and its SvSAN virtual storage solution to replace a non-redundant infrastructure and simplify administration.

StorMagic, working with integrator SVA, deployed a 4-node VMware compute cluster using a 2‑node StorMagic SvSAN cluster (with synchronous mirroring) and repurposed two existing servers as compute-only nodes. The hybrid SvSAN design with Predictive Storage Caching delivered high availability and major performance gains: an 88% performance improvement and batch processing reduced to under 10 minutes, while costing roughly 60–70% less than other options.
