Embracing software-defined storage: Mediterranean Bank successfully undergoes virtualization with StorMagic SvSAN

Mediterranean Bank, operating as MeDirect Bank in Malta, needed to replace six-year-old shared storage and consolidate aging servers across Malta, London, and Brussels. The bank wanted a modern, lightweight, and flexible setup that could support high availability for security components, customer applications, and critical virtual machines while also meeting a special requirement for its Business Intelligence team in Malta.

StorMagic SvSAN was selected to provide software-defined storage with high availability between two servers, a small footprint, and lower cost. The bank implemented a stretch cluster in Malta with synchronous mirroring between two physical sites and refreshed its hardware with Lenovo servers running VMware vSphere. StorMagic helped eliminate physical storage, reduced cooling, power, and maintenance costs, and improved resiliency without the expense and complexity of physical SANs.
