Cover & Rossiter, a regional CPA and advisory firm, faced an outdated, non-redundant VMware SAN environment that couldn’t sustain required applications during server failures and was costly to manage. After a brief trial with StarWind, the firm engaged StorMagic and adopted StorMagic SvSAN to move to a hyperconverged, more flexible infrastructure that met their performance and budget needs.

StorMagic implemented SvSAN virtualized storage across HPE ProLiant DL385p servers, using a FusionIO-backed “flash-only” datastore for performance-sensitive VMs and a separate spinning datastore for less-demanding workloads, with a Raspberry Pi remote witness and Veeam backups. The deployment eliminated downtime for updates and outages, enabled live rolling upgrades, and cut costs — SvSAN was 38% less expensive than buying a new SAN — while consolidating all company data (SQL, Exchange, VoIP, file/terminal servers) onto the new SvSAN platform.
