Scottish Fire and Rescue Service launches faster, simpler web estate with Storm ID

Storm ID partnered with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) to rebuild its web estate, which included a public website, an intranet, and a digital document library. The challenge was to deliver effective and accessible digital services for both staff and the public, with users commonly struggling with search, discovery, and information overload across the various platforms.

The solution involved designing and developing a new ecosystem of platforms using Umbraco and SharePoint. Storm ID created a user-centered site structure, implemented well-defined metadata tags to improve search and load speed, and built an abbreviations catalogue to aid staff. This resulted in significantly enhanced search functions across all platforms, a simpler and faster website with a positive environmental impact, and a sustainable, scalable content management system that was praised by both the client and its users.
