Amica Life Insurance Company, a long-time StoneRiver customer, wanted to replace its legacy underwriting system with web-based technology and a rules engine to improve operational efficiency, support straight-through processing, and free underwriters to focus on more complex cases. StoneRiver’s LifeSuite® was selected as the new underwriting solution, alongside existing StoneRiver products such as ID3® and Life Portraits®.
StoneRiver implemented LifeSuite in an eight-month project that went live on time and within budget. The new system enabled automated underwriting for simpler risks and created a seamless end-to-end process from point of sale to administration. Amica Life reported 150% more applications in 2012 than in 2011, while needing fewer additional underwriting staff than expected, and the solution was well received by users.
