Case Study: Maracuya achieves multi-reservoir gas production optimization with Stone Ridge Technology's ECHELON

A Stone Ridge Technology Case Study

Preview of the Maracuya Case Study

Seamless coupling of multiple reservoir models with shared production targets and a gathering network

Maracuya used Stone Ridge Technology’s ECHELON 2.0 to address the simulation of a greenfield with three dry gas reservoirs, about 1 million cells each, where wells had nonlinear inflow models, maximum drawdown limits, and shared production targets across three well groups. The challenge was to manage multi-reservoir production allocation while also accounting for backpressure from a common gathering network.

Stone Ridge Technology implemented a coupled workflow using ECHELON’s field scheduler and integrated facility network solver (FNS) to balance production across the reservoirs and model network effects without changing the static or well-property sections of the .DATA files. The solution matched the gas production targets and group plateaus while showing reservoir-specific depletion behavior, and including the network model shortened the plateau because backpressure was higher than in the uncoupled case, causing a representative well to stop producing earlier.
