Eni balances production across 3 reservoirs with Stone Ridge Technology

Eni, a major energy company, faced the challenge of managing production from a greenfield consisting of three separate dry gas reservoirs that were all connected to the same gathering network. They needed to balance production groups drawing from multiple reservoirs while also accounting for the impact of network backpressure on their wells. They employed Stone Ridge Technology's ECHELON reservoir simulation software to address this.

The solution from Stone Ridge Technology used ECHELON's field scheduler to balance the multi-reservoir groups and its integrated facility network solver to model the production network. This approach successfully honored the production targets for each group while allowing individual reservoir production to adapt to differential depletion. The inclusion of the network solver provided more accurate results, showing a shorter production plateau due to the previously underestimated network backpressure.
