Case Study: Lovepop accelerates Periscope Data queries and eliminates timeouts with Stitch

A Stitch Case Study

How Stitch helped Lovepop speed up Periscope Data queries

Lovepop, a Boston-based maker of customizable 3D pop-up greeting cards, uses Shopify for ecommerce and Periscope Data to analyze transaction data. Although they enabled Periscope’s cache to speed queries, incomplete Shopify tables (missing ID/date fields) forced full cache refreshes every eight hours, making timely updates inefficient and slowing analysts’ queries.

The team discovered that Stitch—already piping Shopify data into Redshift—appends metadata columns (_sdc_batched_at and _sdc_received_at) that could act as proxy timestamps. By using those columns with Periscope’s Bounded Updates (running every eight hours with a one-day window), Lovepop now updates only changed rows; queries that once timed out now complete in seconds, enabling fast filtering and happier analysts.
