George Washington University, one of the largest higher-education institutions in Washington, D.C., needed a more effective way to promote its Master’s programs after spending heavily on newspaper advertising with limited ROI. The university’s business school wanted a new approach to drive more prospective students to attend informational seminars, which had historically led to stronger enrollment. Stirista, a database marketing agency specializing in B2B/B2C data and email marketing, was brought in to help.
Stirista created an email campaign that invited prospects to attend a seminar and directed them to a landing page to register, running alongside George Washington University’s existing print efforts. In the first email blast, 8% of the target audience opened the message and 670 people clicked through; within 15 days, more than 30% of those clickers attended the seminar. The campaign became George Washington University’s most successful marketing initiative to date, demonstrating the measurable impact of Stirista’s approach.
