The Fifth Sense - Customer Case Study

The Fifth Sense, Chanel and i-D’s online platform celebrating the emotion of scent, commissioned Stink Studios to create Intangible Matter, a digital experience for Chanel’s N°5 L'Eau. The challenge was to express the fragrance through an interactive format that could guide users through different textures, sounds, and interactions.

Stink Studios built four conceptual rooms in WebGL, using techniques such as curl noise, three.js morph target animation, shader-based texture work, and custom lighting and particle effects. The experience moved users from Limbo through Mist, Molten, Beam, and Soft to The Fifth Space, and it was recognized as Site of the Day by It’s Nice That.
