SGMW Uses Stibo Systems Multidomain MDM to Gain Visibility and Streamline Their Business Processes

SGMW, a joint venture of SAIC Motor, General Motors and Liuzhou Wuling Motors and one of China’s largest microvan manufacturers (about 1.5 million vehicles/year), faced growing operational complexity from multiple data sources feeding parts, BOM, contract, logistics, factory and supplier information. Their legacy ERP could not efficiently aggregate or provide the visibility needed at the workstation level—Kanban cards were partly physical and ERP-bound—so SGMW needed a central, scalable master data solution to streamline processes and reduce ERP dependency.

SGMW implemented Stibo Systems Multidomain MDM as a central data hub and aggregator, integrating internal and external feeds and exposing APIs to push real-time Kanban and parts instructions to workstations. The MDM now manages 35 object types and 80 business rules, composes vehicle BOMs, improves supplier and parts traceability, reduces assembly-line idle time, centralizes inventory and contract data, and significantly increased data quality, process transparency and supplier response.
