A Sterling Engineering Case Study
Sterling Engineering was contracted by a Japanese POC medical diagnostic device manufacturer to evaluate and optimize the cost-effectiveness of their product packaging. The challenge was that the packaging for their lateral flow diagnostic tests was over-engineered and costly, with a notable expense in materials and a weakness in the methods used to test seal integrity.
Sterling identified and sourced a specific seal integrity testing technology from a supplier in Ireland. This allowed them to develop accurate validation test protocols. The solution enabled the client to optimize the seal with existing materials to remain within regulatory acceptance and to qualify more cost-effective package components and constructions, ultimately ensuring product integrity and maximum shelf life.
