Logistics Company Taps Stem as Key Energy and Sustainability Advisor

Fortune 100 Logistics Company is a global shipping and logistics provider operating in more than 100 countries with aggressive sustainability targets to cut GHG emissions and increase renewable energy use. Despite lower energy procurement costs, the company faced persistently high demand charges and needed a way to integrate clean energy into operations. Stem was engaged as the energy and sustainability advisor, offering its AI-powered energy storage platform and services to help design advanced microgrids and optimize energy use.

Stem installed a 220 kW / 880 kWh energy storage system in San Gabriel, CA under an Energy Services Agreement with a performance guarantee, delivering immediate utility bill optimization, demand response capability, and automated revenues—an especially important windfall during the COVID pandemic. The project began commercial operation in September 2019 and is expected to yield $250K in savings over 10 years; Stem now supports a dozen projects across the U.S. and Canada, with additional deployments that increasingly include EV infrastructure to further the company’s sustainability goals.
