Fortune 100 Healthcare Company improves savings by 211% with Stem’s Athena

Fortune 100 Healthcare Company, one of the largest healthcare providers in California, faced poor returns and slow time-to-value from its previous software and utility integration across five energy storage sites in Southern California. The customer engaged Stem and its AI-driven Athena® platform to address weak performance, improve utility bill optimization (UBO), and enable automated demand response (DR).

Stem assessed the five sites and implemented Athena to improve short-term forecast accuracy, better balance UBO and DR, and resolve long-term metering data issues. As a result, Stem increased average monthly utility bill savings by more than 150% versus the prior provider and is now delivering 211% of expected savings across the 27 MWh portfolio (commercial operation Aug–Sep 2020).
